WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT THE HISTORIC PENINSULA INN AND SPA

What others say about us means a great deal. Here we offer comments based on three categories; rankings, media and customer comments.

A. How We’re Ranked.

1. Trip Advisor – “We’re proud to recognize The Peninsula Inn and Spa for your exceptional traveler ratings over the past year (2012)…this certificate of excellence awards businesses that consistently earn top ratings from TripAdvisor travelers. With a rating of 4.5, The Peninsula inn and Spa has earned a place among the very best…”

2. Zagat – Zagat Survey has been the hallmark restaurant ranking agency in the U.S. and has consistently ranked our Six Tables fine dining restaurant as among the top in the Tampa Bay metroplex. Our highest ranking with Zagat came in 2009 when Six Tables at The Peninsula was distinguished as the premier dining venue in the Tampa Bay area with ratings of 27 (food) and 28 (service). Zagat ratings are 20-25 (very good to excellent) and 26-30 (extraordinary to perfection).

3. Rewards Network – This national dining consortium consists of over 3 million members affiliated with 14 nationwide, frequent travel organizations including all those offered by the major U.S. airlines. Rewards Network members are truly representative of the dining traveler and we monitor their comments to track how customers rate our performance on all levels, cuisine, beverages, service, atmosphere and entertainment. See a sampling of their comments at “Let’s Hear it from Our Customers”. Our overall ratings from these customers are consistently high and in May of 2012 we achieved an overall rating of 4.86 out of 5 based upon member comments for the month with 100% of those commenting indicting they were “very likely to recommend us to family and friends”.

4. Local Ratings – We have numerous locally presented accolades. For example, when we opened our casual dining restaurant in 2008 we were awarded Best New Restaurant by Beach Life and Best Southern Cuisine the following year. In 2009 we were awarded Best Blues Venue by Best of the Beaches.

B. What the Media Has to Say about the Peninsula Inn.

Gourmet Magazine – “A gem of a restaurant where dining is truly an art…a real treasure…fabulous concept includes a six-course prix fixe dinner – haute cuisine served on elegant antique Limoges china with fine crystal…one of the 10 best in Tampa.”

Spa Life Magazine – (4 page centerfold review) “..a glimpse of genteel, bygone Florida …while drifting off to sleep that night, we realize that we have been thoroughly revitalized, refreshed, and nourished on all levels at this remarkable retreat…”

Ocean Front Magazine – (2 page centerfold review) “At Six Tables the fare is beyond fine – it’s one of the top five restaurants in Tampa Bay – but the staff and setting might be even better.”

St. Petersburg Times – “A jewel on Gulfport’s bohemian boulevard…a lovely place for mental health.”

Florida Secrets Journal and Destination Guide – “Another historic gem in the art village of Gulfport.”

Edmonton Journal (Canada) – “Behind waving palms, it is a haven of serenity where guests enjoy a cool drink on the shady verandah or a snooze in on of the 11 Empire-furnished suites.”

Wedding and Party Planner Magazine – “Many brides and grooms today are opting for the smaller, more personalized, celebrations of their nuptials and The Peninsula Inn and Spa has a marvelous range of options to satiate your every wish. Here you can turn a five hour event into an unforgettable weekend for everyone on your guest list.”

Atlantis Magazine – “Gatsby himself could have hosted a dinner party here. The grandeur, the style and the charm of this restaurant leave you with the feeling you’ve stepped back in time when serving dinner to guests was truly an art. However, at Six Tables, intimacy and warmth are two other words that come to mind when trying to describe this experience.”

02/02/12 We go to Gulfport every year and simply never made it to this place because we stay fairly busy. We made it a point to go, this year, and had an absolutely great meal out on the veranda, with excellent service. What a very nice, delicious, slow-paced way in which to spend an evening! We will be back next year and presumably every year thereafter. Thank you Peninsula Inn, for a memorable evening. out of 5

Good Morning Jim and Alex,

Thanks to you both for the hospitality and the warm welcome to Isabelle’s
and Six Tables. You folks have a real gem and an extremely talented
chef. I have had the opportunity to eat a quite a top restaurants in
the US and abroad;
Citronelle and Jean Louis in DC, The French Laundry in CA, Dominiques
in Miami, The Inn at Little Washington and  L’auberge Provencal in
Virginia and Ashford Castle and Turnberry in the UK.  Without a doubt
and no reservations I can say that the food we enjoyed at Six Tables
was truly world class and in the same league and in some cases better
than the restaurants I’ve mentioned. Fine dining is a hobby and
affliction for me and Jan and when visiting anyplace most of our
preliminary planning involves where are we going to eat. We plan the
meals first and then fit the rest of the itnerary together around
that.

When I found the Peninsula on the web before our trip it was exactly
the kind of place for us. I made the reservation and told Jan that it
was the kind of place and food she would love. You exceeded our
expectations
and our discussion about the Samoan and Pennsylvania Gebauer’s was an
added benefit and treat.

My meetings at BrightHouse went exceptionally well on Monday and it
looks like I’ll be moving to the Tampa area in the next month or two.
Rest assured that on our next trip to Tampa we will definitely make a
stop in Gulfport.

Best Regards,

Ed & Jan
